Margaritaville Beach Resort Ambergris Caye

This is an elevated and secluded resort for families or groups. As a family of 4 adults we rented a two bedroom, two bathroom villa with a kitchen, big dining table and comfortable living room. We decorated the shelving unit which held a large screen TV with Christmas decorations we brought from home. With the fire scene on the TV and stockings hung on either side along with lights, etc. we had a bit of home on a tropical Christmas. We did some cooking, ordered room service and enjoyed the restaurant. Christmas Eve we had an old fashioned Belizean meal with turkey, rice and beans, salad with local greens and a wonderful black fruitcake soaked in rum. There are lots of activities available including pickleball, kayaks, paddle boards and bicycles. You can rent a golf cart to explore the rainforest trails, take a sunset cruise to snorkel or paddle out on a kayak and snorkel on the nearby reef. The reef is thriving unlike many other barrier reefs. There are also two beautiful pools. There are 3 bars to enjoy including a swim up bar and one on the beach. All make great cocktails and drinks and play a mix of music. We danced to a DJ on Christmas Eve and witnessed a hermit crab race. Although the resort was booked to capacity it never felt crowded as many families spent time enjoying the beautiful villas. The privacy was very welcome to 4 big, city dwellers. The resort occupies an untouched stretch of beach and jungle, with no neighbors and is reached by a 25 minute speedboat boat or a taxi ride. We also spent time enjoying the facilities and met very nice guests. The Belizeans are friendly, warm hearted hosts. We will definitely return to Margaritaville for a family vacation.

This was the best choice possible for our family. We were provided with a free upgrade from the 1 bedroom suite we had booked for our 4 member family to a gorgeous 2 bedroom suite which made all the difference in the world. The seclusion and isolation of this resort is why we chose it and it lived up to those qualities! At times we felt like we owned the pools and ocean! You can swim out from the resort to the barrier reef if you’re a strong swimmer (though the reef is being impacted in the same way it is in other countries) and the water is very clear and shallow! The suite itself is spacious and beautiful (the nicest room we’ve ever stayed in of all of our numerous vacations), the casting worked fine for us (we watched Christmas movies at night), and though the kitchen itself is missing items for those who wish to cook, they are provided quickly upon request. We rented a golf cart from San Pedro and drove to and from the resort ourselves - and it was adventurous and fun! Best thing about this resort is the staff - Ken, Faura, and all the staff are unbelievably kind and friendly! Highly recommend this resort if you are looking for the same quiet and secluded type of experience as us.

Margaritaville Beach Resort Ambergris Caye - Belize is undoubtedly a gorgeous property, clean and well-kept. However, my family and I encountered numerous issues during our stay that overshadowed its beauty. First, the resort charged us for transportation from their welcome center but failed to provide this information in advance. This unexpected cost added $38 per person to our trip. Once we arrived, we found the Wi-Fi and TV did not work. Since it rained most of our stay, we were looking forward to movie and game nights, but despite multiple assurances that someone would fix the TV, it only happened after I personally went to the front desk. Transportation was another major issue. The resort is in a very remote location, and we were told after arrival that we should have rented golf carts for travel. However, without working Wi-Fi and given the resort is an hour from the city, navigating on our own wasn’t feasible. Instead, we had to pay $250 to visit a beach just 30 minutes away. The final straw was on our departure day. We were told we’d leave on a faster speedboat, but the resort failed to communicate a change in transportation plans. Without notifying us, they switched to a slower shuttle, which made the trip take an hour and a half. As a result, we missed our flight and had to rebook, which was an unnecessary and stressful ordeal. We only discovered the change because my sister went to confirm our pickup with the front desk. Despite all of these issues, the resort offered no discount or compensation for the inconvenience. While the location is beautiful, the lack of communication, poor amenities, and high transportation costs made this trip frustrating. Unfortunately, I would not recommend staying here or returning in the future.

What a great resort! It exceeded our expectations at every turn. The rooms were immaculate and perfectly maintained. The property was beautiful and impeccably cared for. Every breakfast, lunch and dinner were perfect. The most impressive thing overall was the staff, each and every team member demonstrated caring and concern in every encounter. Ken, Chef Felipe, GM Sean, Barrie, Danny G, Allan all the waiters and waitresses always ready with a warm, sincere greeting made every day special. If you like feeling welcome and special visit this incredible resort.

Margaritaville, Belize has THE MOST AMAZING AND ACCOMMODATING STAFF!! It’s an adventure getting here and worth every minute of it!! Too many staff to name because they are all wonderful!! You HAVE to get a massage. Worth. Every. Penny. THANK YOU ALL! For a wonderful time during tropical storm Sara!!

This was the most amazing trip. This being our first time to Belize, we didn't know what to fully expect. We were looking for a peaceful getaway but we got so much more. This resort is very remote and just what we were looking for. The property is beautiful, the rooms are great, and the staff is amazing. The first night we arrived there was a bad storm. The staff was so attentive making sure we felt comfortable and safe. The food at the resort is great, whether you are looking for a cheeseburger, seafood or a true Belizean dinner, they did not disappoint!! The waters here are crystal clear. We loved the special touch of having the chairs off the pier so we could sit out over the ocean. It was absolutely stunning. Every single staff member was so kind and caring. We made a life long friend in one of the managers, Ken, his laugh and his beautiful spirit are infectious, If you ever get the chance to meet him, you will never forget him.
